Clean Scraproom

Image
I am going to start off 2009 with a clean scraproom. This is the space that I create in. It is the first room I visit in the morning and the last room I visit before going to bed. This is where my children will find me when they are hungry and my husband will find me when he's lonely. It is my favorite room in the house. Friends call this room candy for the eyes and other's just shake their heads and don't understand. This is where friends come to play and laughter can be heard. Sometimes I stick to the floor or on some days I can't even find the floor. It is a room that inspires me and never fails to put a smile on my face. Who wants to come and make a mess with me?

Give aways

Greetings to all who visit me. In honor of 4000 hits I am giving away a Rak or maybe even 2. Please leave me a comment to let me know you stopped by and I will enter your name in the draw. I will be drawing a name on the 2nd on January at Midnight and posting the winner(s) sometime on the 3rd.

A Scrapper's Night Before Christmas

One of the Ladies from Just Cre8 posted this on the forum. I thought it was very funny. Enjoy. Twas the night before Christmas, I'm glued to the tree. I'm wondering what Santa brought just for me. Could it be cardstock or chipboard or lace? Or a Cricut, I said, with a smile on my face. And that's when I heard him, "Hi Santa" I said" You know.... good little girls should be in their beds." "I know I should Santa, and now I've been caught. But I was just so excited To see what you brought." "Well, let's take a look in this room where you work. He shook his head quickly, And left with a jerk. I heard him exclaim as he put it in gear "You've got enough crap, I 'll see you next year!" I am wishing each one of you a heartfelt Merry Christmas. I thank you for faithfully stopping by to view my "creations" and look forward to hearing from you in 2009.(even my lurkers. lol.)

My tree topper

Image
This is my tree topper. I bought her 6 years ago.She has graced the top of my tree every year since. This is the 1 ornament I cherish above all. She remind me of home and of my Grandmother's tree. She always makes me stop and think about what it is I am supposed to be celebrating. I am very happy to have this on my tree and will be very sad when I one day will have to "retire" her (hopefully many years down the road.)

Together

Image
This picture is from our 2004 holiday to the west coast. I have been working on this LO for awhile. When it finally came together I loved it. I used scraps from my stash.

Summer Safari

Image
Nothing to creative about this page. I distressed and inked everything. I used a vintage brown cupcake paper to make 1 of the flowers in the cluster at the bottom of the page. We had so much fun this summer visiting spray parks and paddling pools.

Love

Image
The November kit from Just Cre 8. This is my niece Kennedy. She is my brothers adopted daughter. She is beautiful. Shane has been the only Daddy she has ever known and he loves her like only a daddy can. I am so proud of him for being the great Father he is and for loving this little girl. She is such a blessing to our family.

Listen.....to the wind

Image
I used the September kit from Just Cre 8 for this page. I love this page. I love the picture. I am still a farm girl. I have always loved listening to the wind through the grass and trees. It is like listening to Mother Natures symphony.

Kailey

Image
This page was made with the November kit from Just Cre 8. I did some "pen stitching" on the white flower paper and love how it turned out. I used Pewter Liquid Pearls to write my title. I stamped my paper to make the pattern on my torn flower.

Hammy

Image
Hammy the squirrel from Over the Hedge is real. Well this little guy reminded me of Hammy. He was in constant motion. We spent a few hours just watching him run and play.Glimmer mist, distressing and tearing nothing fancy but I like the page.

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas

Image
Check this out http://timholtz.typepad.com/my_weblog/ . For those of you who know me well you know I love anything Tim Holtz . I really only discovered him last Christmas when he did the 12 Tags of Christmas. I have been a faithful follower since then and am so in love with all his products. He is once again doing the 12 Tags of Christmas. This is the first tag and I think it is fabulous. I think I see a tag in my future plans today. He will be giving away prizes every day for his 12 Tags of Christmas so make sure to visit his blog every day and post a comment...who knows you just might win something.

Free

Image
I love this page. My journaling is hidden on a tag under the picture. While watching my children play I was struck by the freedoms that children have. My journaling reads: To be as free as a child.Free to run, play, slide, swing. To be free to laugh, giggle, cry, yell, enjoy. To be free of fear, worry, stress. To be free to experience life and all it's wonders.

BFF

Image
This is a very simple page done about Ruby-Jean and her Best Friend Forever, Auria.

A Boy's Hair Story.

Image
This was my entry for the Rebus challenge for Creative Idol. I love how it turned out and I never would have thought to journal in this manner if not for the challenge. Here is the translation if you are having trouble. Once upon a time there lived a little boy named Kayne. He had big eyes. He was a little monkey. One day he wanted to do his hair so he could be handsome like his daddy. He went into th e bathroom and turned the water on so he could wet his hair. Then he put some gel in and began to comb his hair. First he combed it one way and then the other way. He combed his hair till his spikes were j ust right.Once he decided that he was as handsome as could bee he came downstairs to find his mommy and show her what he had done. She was very surprised. She laughed and gave the little boy named Kayne a hug and they lived happily ever after. The end.

Relief

Image
I have been dealing with some leg issues this summer and fall. I have been doing acupuncture for about 2months and I am getting some relief from it. I used a vintage sewing pattern for teh butterfly wings and my journalling tag.

Melts in your Mouth

Image
This page was done for the Creative Idol Contest on Just Cre 8. The challenge was to scrap a slogan. I did the M&M"S "Melts in your mouth not in your hands." I like the page and really had fun cre 8 ing it.

Just Cre8 Online Crop

Image
Here are a couple more of the pages I did for J ust Cre 8's online crop . The airplane lego page was a challenge. I had to use The colour Brown or any shade of it must be present on your layout, At least 5 different types of paper (patterned or Cardstock ) ,At least 3 stars ( anywhere, any type!), At least 6 Brads or eyelets, At least 1 stamped element ,And some sort of hand writing must be seen! My Monkey page was inspired by a Joni Mitchell Album cover. I now owe the kids a new barrel of monkeys.

Online Crop

Image
I did the Revive and Rejuvenate Online Crop this past weekend at Just Cre8. I had a blast. I did several of the challenges and kind of enjoyed not having to haul all my stuff somewhere only to have left what I really needed behind. This was a scrapping 101 challenge. I don't really scrap this way at all. It was kind of hard to play be the rules on this one. In the end I don't mind how it turned out. Keep checking back as I continue to post the pages I did this past weekend.

Bubble Boy

Image
Just a simple and fun LO. We had spent the afternoon at Family Fun Day in the Park. They had these "bubbles" that the kids put on and ran around bumping into each other. They had a hoot. A little bubble wrap painting, some gool ribbon and a little dry wall tape.

Owie

Image
We went camping this summer for the first time as a family. We had a blast. Ray was chopping wood and some how or another he ended up with this sliver in his big toe. It was quite a large sliver and me being the person I am had to document it. It was a weekend full of owie's . The first aid kit needed to be replenished when we got home.

Tag You Are It

OK, so I was tagged by Julie and here is the link to her list http://cortens.blogspot.com/ . Now for my spectacular list of 6 things about myself...... 1. I usually never do these kinds of things. While I do find them amusing to read I just don't take the time to sit down and do them. I think I just like to be a mystery to everyone. You know keep them on their toes and guessing as to what makes me tick. *smile* 2. I am afraid of the dark. I hate the dark. I have been afraid of the dark since I was a little girl. I think it has something to do with my cousins putting on one of those old men masks and hiding under the bed. After I had gotten into bed and turned off the lamp they crawled out from under my bed and scared the bejeepers out of me. I have a nice family eh? 3. I love the smell of rain in the spring. It rejuvenates me and tells me that a new season is upon us. 4. I have a very warped sense of humor. It sometimes gets me into trouble. Lots of times people are surprised to

Politics

Please don't be offended if I rant about politics for a few minutes. I am deeply disappointed in Maurice Vellacott . He is the MP for the Conservatives for my area. I phoned his office yesterday to ask him a few questions and to let him know that I was somewhat offended with the prerecorded voice message that I had received. He wasn't in his office so I left a message and he called back later in the day. When he called back he was at the car wash. I addressed him politely and thanked him for returning my call. He asked what he could do for me and I said I had a few questions about the policies of his party. He became very upset, to the point of raising his voice. He told me to go online and look up the news release because it would tell me all I needed to know. Mr. Vellacott's exact quote was "our party's record stands for itself and we have held power the longest of any other minority government". I said that was fine but I would like to address some of the

Photo Cube

Image
This photo cube made from CD cases was so much fun to do. My friend Barb R. emailed me this idea. I sat down last night and completed it in just a few short hours. I think it took me longer to find the photos I wanted to use than to make it. I used Basic Grey paper (of course) for the Boys I used the Archaic 6x6 paper pack and for the girls I used the Euphoria 6x6 paper pack. The pages are very simple done. The #1 is coated in Flower Soft. I love this new product for adding texture to chipboard. The #2 is Glimmer Misted. The #3 is inked and then stamped with Staz On ink. I really like how it turned out. The #4 is Glittered. Who doesn't like glitter?

My challenge blog is called Get Your Mojo On! here's the link http://mojogirlz.blogspot.com/

August Joy

Image
The patterned paper is from a kit that I purchased from Shop Crop Suey . I did a little bubble wrap painting. The letters are Tim Holtz Grungeboard .(I love this stuff) I painted, sanded and glossy accented them. All in all a very simple page but I loved this photo of Blaze and didn't want to deter from it with a lot of clutter on the page.

MY Manly Man

Image
This is my Ray. We were at the lake for the August long weekend and I had been commenting on what a hot guy he was, so he started posing for me. He makes me smile.

Gum + Hair = A New Do

Image
This page gave me some serious grief. I just had a creative block that I couldn't seem to break. I finally had a break through last night. It came together easily after I found my mojo. I did some bubble wrap painting, a little stamping, my Big Shot for some of the lettering and I used some flower soft in the flowers. I like how the page came out. Oh yeah and for those of you who know how angry I was over the whole gum in the hair fiasco...I am over it now.:)

Ray

Image
This page was fun to make. I distressed everything. Love that "scratchy tool" from Tim Holtz. It was used to take the background out of my picture. I cut a pocket from an old pair of jeans and frayed the edges and then doodled on it. The tie is an old silk tie my cousin bought for me at a garage sale he thought I might find a use for it.(he bought me a box full of ties actually) The letters are done with the new mesh that Just Scrap It! got in. I put it on card stock and ran it through my new Big Shot Die Cut Machine. If you don't have one yet go get one. I love mine! I have a hidden journal tag in the pocket. It is a for his eyes only card.:):) All in all I like how my page turned out.

Bubbles

Image
Bubbles...my kids love blowing bubbles. I need to buy shares in a bubble company. ;) Kayne sat and just blew bubbles one afternoon. I had so much fun snapping pictures of him. The page is pretty simple but I think I am happy with the end result.

You Should See the Other Guy

Image
I just had to document who won and who lost 1 of many altercations between Wolfgang and Kayne. As you can see Wolf lost.

Mud

Image
Ruby-Jean thought that it was a good idea to taste mud. Now she knows it doesn't taste very good.lol.

Frogs and Camps

Image
What have we been up to? Well last weekend we went out to Luseland and camped in my in-laws back yard. The kids loved it. We found out out tent leaks in heavy windy rainy weather. This is good to know as we are going camping again this weekend. I think we will duct tape the seams and hope for the best.:):) Kayne's pet frog that he caught while at the farm on the weekend. The excitement of a child over such a small creature. I am always amazed at the awe our children show when discovering the world around them. Blaze had a blast at Bible Camp. This was her first year and she LOVED it! She made some new friends but more importantly she grew in her walk with the Lord. I think she is very close to commiting her life to Christ. I am not pushing her one way or the other. This MUST be her decision and hers alone. She is talking about wanting to be baptised and we are all very excited for her. The break was nice. We have a little bit of a rough Mother Daughter relashionship and I hope th

Spin

Image
I love garage sales. I can find some great things like this ballerina/princess outfit. Ruby-Jean found it and wanted it immediately I figures for $o.50 how could I go wrong? She wears it all the time. Sometimes as PJ's, sometimes as a dance costume, sometimes just to feel pretty.

Hold My Beer

Image
Kayne is my boy. He makes my heart happy on a bad day. Last year for my birthday Ray bought me Aaron Prichett's cd. I fell in love with his song Hold My Beer. I listened to it every day for weeks.Kayne also likes this song. He sings along to it at the top of his lungs. He recognizes it as soon as the first cord is struck, he wants to listen to it everyday. So I felt this should be scrapped. He loves music and can sing. I hope he pursues music is some way as he is very musical.

My Socks Are Broken

Image
Our Ruby-Jean comes up with some of the cutest phrases. We were sitting at supper one night when she looked down at her sock and declared" My Socks Are Broken" . They had fallen down and were somewhat srunched. It was a photo that had to be taken.

Summer Fun

Image
Fun at home. That is the summer we are trying to have. With Ray's job change in May there will be no Summer Holidays for us again this year. That makes 3 years now without a break. I need one! So we are having holidays at home. We are going to vist all the spray parks in Saskatoon ...well as many as we can when the weather cooperates. There are a lot of things to to here at home and we will take advantage of them. We also bought a tent this week so hopfully we can slip away for a weekend or 2 to do some camping. Ray has never relly done this before. For those who don't know Ray he's not really a bushman he prefers the indoors and his computer. I am hoping that he will have lots of fun adn enjoy it when we go. I grew up camping and fishing and such and have missed not doing it. This is an adventure I would like to give my kids. I know they will have fun.

Happy Birthday to Me

Image
I just want to say a Huge Thank You to everyone who came out to JSI to help me celebrate my birthday. It really was one of the best birthdays I can remember. Thank you for the awesome birthday present...Tim Holtz,Basic Grey,Stickles,Glitter,Thickers...be still my beating heart.lol. You guy ROCK. I am truly blessed for knowing each and every one of you. Thank you.

45 Record Album

Image
Sorry about the poor quality of my photos and the sideways one. My computer and camera just weren't being very user compatible tonight. I made this album from 2 old 45 record albums. My inside pages were cut using my coluzzle .(boy am I happy I invested in this.) I made the album to hold all the ticket stubs from outings with the family this summer and to jot down little notes and what nots about said outings. It was fun to make and was a departure for me as I prefer to design around pictures not design and then add pictures. I used the CUPCAKE line from Basic Grey. I think Basic Grey is one of my favorite lines. (it seems to be the one I have the most of ;).
