Genuine Boy

Image
My son is caught in that in between world of being a little boy and wanting to be a big boy. He turned 7 last month and still likes little boy stuff and snuggles with Mommy but he is being drawn to the older boys who influence his world. He follows their every move and imitates their every action but when he gets hurt or his world feels like it's falling apart he still wants his Mommy. And that's OK. ;) He's rough and tough and wears his heart on his sleeve, but most importantly he is Genuine in all that he does. My Little Yellow Bicycle makes fantastic boy papers. The line I used on this LO is Generation Z . I love how this line lends itself to distressing and grunging....my two favorite things. ;)  The little x stamp on the side of the photo is from Fiskars . I also stamped with myStamp Box . I used the Colour Me Alpha's to stamp Boy. The other words are stamped from a collection of stamps I found at the Dollar store and there is no company name on them. I took apart an old board book and used the pages like a mask with my Glimmer Mist. I the green gears are chipboard that I inked and Glossy Accented and the orange gears were stamped, embossed and hand cut. I used pop dots to pop them off the page.

A Boy's Hair Story.

Image
This was my entry for the Rebus challenge for Creative Idol. I love how it turned out and I never would have thought to journal in this manner if not for the challenge. Here is the translation if you are having trouble. Once upon a time there lived a little boy named Kayne. He had big eyes. He was a little monkey. One day he wanted to do his hair so he could be handsome like his daddy. He went into th e bathroom and turned the water on so he could wet his hair. Then he put some gel in and began to comb his hair. First he combed it one way and then the other way. He combed his hair till his spikes were j ust right.Once he decided that he was as handsome as could bee he came downstairs to find his mommy and show her what he had done. She was very surprised. She laughed and gave the little boy named Kayne a hug and they lived happily ever after. The end.

Bubble Boy

Image
Just a simple and fun LO. We had spent the afternoon at Family Fun Day in the Park. They had these "bubbles" that the kids put on and ran around bumping into each other. They had a hoot. A little bubble wrap painting, some gool ribbon and a little dry wall tape.

Bubbles

Bubbles...my kids love blowing bubbles. I need to buy shares in a bubble company. ;) Kayne sat and just blew bubbles one afternoon. I had so much fun snapping pictures of him. The page is pretty simple but I think I am happy with the end result.

It Wasn't Me!

Image
Kayne: It wasn't me! Mommy: Oh yes it was! Kayne: It wasn't me!(giggling) Mommy Oh yes it was. (giggling also) And so the conversation would go. I have a son who is gassy to put it politely and while we try not to laugh when sounds escape we sometimes can't help it. Now those of you who know Ray and I you know we have an odd sense of humor...so when I saw this t-shirt I thought of Kayne and knew I had to buy it. He has several shirts with captions on them and he loves wearing them.

I love the picture of Kayne just enjoying the day. I knew I didn't want this layout to have a "little boy" feel to it but I didn't know what direction to go either. I definitely don't mind stepping out of my comfort zone so I tried some of Wilna's paint it mentality. I am not sure yet if I like the layout but I don't hate the results so I guess that is good. I will try painting again on future layouts as I did have fun creating this one. The chipboard letters have crackle paint, perfect pearls ink and glossy accents.

Harvest Crop

Image
Here are the layouts I accomplished during JSI's Harvest Crop. I had a blast and am looking forward to the Spring crop. Thank you to the staff of JSI for the fantastic job they did putting everything together and letting us all have an enjoyable and memorable weekend. Worms. MMMM... big fat juicy ones or so the poem goes. Kayne spend the better part of a beautiful spring day collecting worms. Ruby-Jean and her Oma. I loved the way this picture turned out. Blaze can be difficult to photograph. This picture just speaks to my mothers heart. Yes!! I knew it Elvis Lives!! I have the proof!!! I had so much fun at the crop weekend and Elvis was a hoot. We have a weekly family night...this means a photo op for mom and snacks and lots of fun for the kids. Yep. It's all fun and games until you get rug burn from sliding down the carpeted stairs.
