Garage Sale and Flea Market Finds

Image
We went "junking" on the weekend. I found a few fun items that put a smile on my face. The first is this cheque. There was a box full, but at $1 each I only bought 4. I really wanted more but I had to walk away. :) Next is this camera.  I love it. It makes me smile every time I look at it. All the nobs and dials work. It slides in and out and closes perfect. I paid $10. I have no idea if that is a good deal or not but it really doesn't matter. I really wanted it. My little shelf. A great find at $2. It's about 2 feet high and maybe a foot wide. It is going to be home to all sorts of treasures. :) My last find of the weekend is this video camera. A great find at $3. Everything moves and works. The camera bag is in great condition, it still has the lens cap and inside the yellow box it the tin that the film reel came in. The film is long gone but it is nice to have the tin. There you have it. My finds of the weekend. Do you like to go "junking"?...

Bikes and big trucks

Image
We went to the Monster Trucks on the weekend. The kids had a blast and I enjoyed trying to get that perfect photo. :)I thought I had captured some really good shots but my critics were the kids and I think they think everything is "cool". I went through tonight with a much more critical eye and I think I have some ok shots but nothing really, really great. The day was fun and in the end that is all that matters. The extreme bikes were fun to watch. The boys can't wait to try "jumping" their (peddle)bikes this summer. I lucked out and caught the tough truck just before it flipper over. Take a look and tell me what you think.

Going Nowhere Fast

Image
A page about a day at the lake. We had a blast and the kids played on this tube for the better part of the day. I am not sure if I like this page or not but they can't all be works of art. :)

Fireworks Festival

Image
We went to the Fireworks Festival last night. The kids had their faces painted. The group Scyap Inc. that was doing it did a fantastic job. The kids had fun and I got to play around with the settings on my camera trying to capture the Fireworks.

Beaver Creek photo's

Image
It's been a while since I posted. I have taken lots of time off work this summer just so I could hang with my family and friends. These are just a few of my favorite photos from an outing to Beaver Creek. I loved this purple flower and the blurred background. I Really fell in love with it after I turned it black and white. Here is some of the "wild life" I found while we were hiking. I never should have shown Ruby-Jean how much fun this is. If she spots a Dandylion with "fuzz" she has to stop and blow it away.

Roughriders in Saskatoon

Image
On April 19 we went out to Griffiths Stadium to watch Matt Dominguez's Football Camp. This camp was for students from grade 9-12. I think that it is pretty cool that these guys come out and show our up and coming footballers how to improve their game. I mean how cool is it to be given advice from a "hero"? Someone whom they watch play this fantastic game for a living!!!After they were done we were able to go out on the field and meet the Riders. Pretty cool. I am not sure who was more excited Dad or the kids because they got to meet 7 Riders or me because I got to play around with my camera??? Summer Safari

Image
Nothing to creative about this page. I distressed and inked everything. I used a vintage brown cupcake paper to make 1 of the flowers in the cluster at the bottom of the page. We had so much fun this summer visiting spray parks and paddling pools.

Hammy

Image
Hammy the squirrel from Over the Hedge is real. Well this little guy reminded me of Hammy. He was in constant motion. We spent a few hours just watching him run and play.Glimmer mist, distressing and tearing nothing fancy but I like the page.

Frogs and Camps

Image
What have we been up to? Well last weekend we went out to Luseland and camped in my in-laws back yard. The kids loved it. We found out out tent leaks in heavy windy rainy weather. This is good to know as we are going camping again this weekend. I think we will duct tape the seams and hope for the best.:):) Kayne's pet frog that he caught while at the farm on the weekend. The excitement of a child over such a small creature. I am always amazed at the awe our children show when discovering the world around them. Blaze had a blast at Bible Camp. This was her first year and she LOVED it! She made some new friends but more importantly she grew in her walk with the Lord. I think she is very close to commiting her life to Christ. I am not pushing her one way or the other. This MUST be her decision and hers alone. She is talking about wanting to be baptised and we are all very excited for her. The break was nice. We have a little bit of a rough Mother Daughter relashionship and I hope th...

Summer Fun

Image
Fun at home. That is the summer we are trying to have. With Ray's job change in May there will be no Summer Holidays for us again this year. That makes 3 years now without a break. I need one! So we are having holidays at home. We are going to vist all the spray parks in Saskatoon ...well as many as we can when the weather cooperates. There are a lot of things to to here at home and we will take advantage of them. We also bought a tent this week so hopfully we can slip away for a weekend or 2 to do some camping. Ray has never relly done this before. For those who don't know Ray he's not really a bushman he prefers the indoors and his computer. I am hoping that he will have lots of fun adn enjoy it when we go. I grew up camping and fishing and such and have missed not doing it. This is an adventure I would like to give my kids. I know they will have fun.

Campingout for tickets

Image
I have the BEST friend in the WORLD. She camped out at Just Scrap IT! last night so that we could be first in line. I left her there at Midnight and returned this morning at 5AM. Those that gathered early with us had a blast chatting and shivering and enjoying the sunrise. None of us can wait until the 25th & 26th of April.

Safari Jeff & Shannon

Image
We took the kids to see Safari Jeff and Shannon today. They had a hoot and got to pet a snake. How cool is that? Safari

Canada Goose

I took these pictures down at the river in early spring. The bottom picture is one of my favorite pictures that I have taken in the last year. The Maple Leaf is made from a piece of chipboard and covered in glass tiles.

Forestry Farm

Image
We finally had a cooler day so I packed the kids up and we went to the Forestry Farm. We had a blast. We ate lunch at the farm and had a couple of chickens coming to see what was on the menu. The kids weren't to sure about this but eventually they settled down and got on with the business of eating. I got some great shots and can't wait to scrapbook them. The kids loved the White Tigers. I had a hard time convincing them that there were other animals to see. Why can't children cooperate and allow their mother a nice picture. That's all I am asking just 1 picture where everyone is looking at the camera and smiling. This Badger needed a rest after fighting with his roommate. I loved this little Prairie Dog it was almost like he was posing for the camera.
